Fitness Friday | Destination Jamaica!

Is it weird that its February and I am just now starting to feel like my new year has started? I swear until THIS week, I was continually thinking it was 2014. Not as in, oh I forgot its a new year, but as in I thought 2014 WAS the new year! Don’t ask me what has my mind so discombobulated besides just being busy. In any event, that mentality applies to my fitness as well. Not sure what took me so long to finally get going, but I feel really good about the choices I’ve been making and forcing myself to find time to workout. Even if its just a simple plank routine and mountain climbers with my gliders to strengthen (and ultimately flatten) my core.

So, what got my booty going? Um, this lil thing I have coming up called a trip to Jamaica! I shared that I will be attending a destination wedding later this year (end of July to be exact). I actually wrote out my fitness and weight loss goals for not only the trip, but this year in general. I got into “planning” near the end of last year thanks to Mo, who shares her natural hair tips here on L4L, and part of living that planner life is goal setting. I created an entire section in my personal planner specifically for my fitness – including meal planning, measurement tracker, exercise log and goal setting. This has helped immensely to keep me on track and accountable. I do plan to eventually share my planner and how it HAS helped (speaking it into existence) with my fitness journey, so stay tuned for that. I know KLP at Saving Our Strands shared some printables (planner talk again) a few weeks ago, so check hers out!

The second step in getting ready for my Jamaica trip is I joined DietBet! How did I NOT know about this website?! With my competitive spirit and unyielding quest to earn a coin, this is right up my alley! In case you are like me and completely in the dark about DietBet, it’s basically a website where you can join group challenges for a small fee to go into the “pot.” If you lose 4 (or 10) percent of your body weight in the time frame allotted you, along with other successful losers, split the pot! Easy right? Between earning a dollar and envisioning myself frolicking on the beach in the Caribbean this summer – I am SO motivated!
