Finished Project: Prayer Shawl

I absolutely love knitting Prayer Shawls, especially this pattern. I would rather knit prayer shawls for joyful reasons, but the two I had knit have been for women in my life that were undergoing cancer treatment, which really sucks.

In November we were given the news that another woman in our life received a cancer diagnosis and would immediately be starting chemo and radiation. Just as the previous two my initial reaction was one of shock and a feeling of helplessness being so far away. Besides offering my support and love the only thing I felt that I could do was knit. And so I did.

Because we were flying home and were away from December 14 to January 4th I knew that I would need to have this Prayer Shawl finished during that time. I am no where what I would call a fast knitter so this time constraint really worried me as it took me a little over 3 months to knit my previous two Shawls. For this one I had just about 7 weeks and that was pushing it. I knew we would be busy during our Holiday so I started knitting as soon as I could. If I had a spare moment I was knitting. I was a knitting machine. And I did it. I am so proud of this shawl, I love the colours and I think it suits her just perfectly.

While I was knitting late into the nights James would sit with me and we would use the knit portion to cover our legs. The shawl was warm and so cozy, we loved it. James loved it so much that he requested one for himself. So we talked about dimensions and colours. I'm looking forward to having a shawl on my needles throughout 2014.

♥♥♥ I wanted to add that C. finished her treatment early and while she has a long road of recovery ahead of her, her prognosis is excellent. We are so happy for this news!
