Rescue Beauty Lounge Square Pants & Bikini Bottom
Hi! Slowly going back to normal after the storm, it's a sunny day here in NYC and hopefully that helps drying the flooded areas. The metro doesn't work and the school is closed (yes, kids driving me crazy here lol), but the city is full with cars and people again.
Back to polishes, today I have more of my Rescue Beauties to show you. In a couple of days (11/2) the BIB's will be released, that's why I want to show you some of my RBL's to help you decide with your order. Among the BIB's is Starfish Patrick, one of the three Sponge Bob Collection polishes... well I don't have that one, but let's see the other two!
Hola! Por acá las cosas volviendo lentamente a la normalidad después de la tormenta, es un día soleado en NYC y ojalá eso ayude a secar las zonas inundadas. El metro no funciona y las escuelas están cerradas (si, los nenes volviendome loca en casa jaja), pero la ciudad está llena de autos y gente de nuevo.
Volviendo a los esmaltes, tengo más Rescue Beauties para mostrarles. En un par de días (2/11) es el lanzamiento de algunos de los colores agotados que vuelven (BIB), así que aprovecho para mostrarles los que yo tengo por si necesitan ayuda con su wishlist!
entre los BIBs está Starfish Patrick, de la colección de Sponge Bob. Ese no lo tengo, pero tengo los otros dos de la colección, que están disponibles.
Square Pants is a light yellow jelly. I used four coats for the pictures without top coat. Square Pants es un jelly amarillo clarito. Usé cuatro capas para las fotos sin top coat.
Bikini Bottom is a light "Tiffany" blue, you know me, I LOVE turquoises and this one is like looking at a calm pool. Beautiful!!! I also used four coats and no top coat. Bikini Pottom es un celeste "Tiffany", ustedes me conocen, AMO los turquesas y este es como mirar una pileta, hermoso!! Usé cuatro capas sin top coat para las fotos.
I love jellies and these two colors are delicate and different from the usual pinks/nudes we always see. They have a wilky/watery and vintage look if that makes any sense, what's not to love? I can wait to try some jelly sandwich combos!
They are sheer of course, as expected for jellies, I think they will look great layered over a white polish, Jelly (like RBL Bella, OPI Funny Bunny, etc) or opaque creme (like OPI Alpine Snow) for a more intense look.
Amo los jellies y estos dos colores son super delicados y distintos de los típicos rositas/nude que en general vemos. Tienen un look aguado/vintage, cómo no me van a gustar? Perfectos para jelly sandwich!
Obviamente son translúcidos, como es de esperar para los jellies. Deben quedar muy bien sobre un esmalte blanco, jelly como RBL Bella u OPI Funny Bunny por ejemplo, o para un efecto más intenso, un creme opaco como OPI Alpine Snow.
I know a lot of you are a bit reluctant about jellies and all their coats and sometimes application can be a little tricky. My technique is very easy and maybe you can try it if you're having problems with streaky results:
-I use a ridge filler base coat, it evens the surface of the nail, but also the color. Some brands have whitening base coats for French Manicures, like Yves Rocher or Color Club. But OPI (the one I used for the pics), Butter London nail foundation, etc will work too
-I apply one first THIN coat
-I leave it dry a couple of minutes
-I apply thicker coats, trying to avoid pressing with the brush. I wait a little between coats.
-I finish with fast dry top coat. I used to use Seche Vite, but it gave me so many shrinking issues that I changed for Poshé.
And that's it! Jelly mani without brush strokes or bald spots! Of course the formula has to be good to begin with!
Sé que a muchas de ustedes no les gustan los jellies por la cantidad de capas que hay que dar y a veces el efecto veteado que pueden tener. Yo tengo una técnica muy simple para aplicarlos y quizás les sirve a las que están teniendo algún problema con vetas, etc:
- aplico una base Ridge Filler (las que se usan para uñas estríadas o base de porcelana), que además de unificar la superficie de la uña, unifica el color.
-aplico una primer capa de esmalte bien FINITA
-dejo secar unos minutos
-aplico el resto de las capas bastante más gruesas, teniendo cuidado de no hacer presión con el pincel para no dejar marcas, casi sin tocar. De nuevo, es importante dejar secar un poco entre capas.
-termino con una base de secado rápido.
Y listo! Un jelly sin vetas! Claro que depende de la calidad del esmalte, si la fórmula es mala, no hay técnica que ayude.
I searched for any possible dupe among my collection but I couldn't find any. Illamasque Load is a little lighter than Square Pants, and of course is not a jelly. Bikini Bottom is from the same "family" of Revlon Sheer Seafoam and NFU-Oh Jelly Syrup 16, but both are more intense colors. Revlon needs seven (yes, 7) coats to show the bottle color and it was a nightmare that never dried. Nfu-Oh has a great formula, it needs three coats but the color is closer to China Glaze Aquadelic (which of course I love too).

Busqué algún posible dupe entre mis esmaltes y no encontré nada exacto. Load de Illamasqua es un poco más claro que Square Pants y además es creme opaco. Bikini Bottom es de la misma familia que Revlon Sheer Seafoam y Nfu-Oh Jelly Syrup 16, pero son más intensos. El Revlon necesita siete (si, 7) capas para mostrar el color de la botellita y es una pesadilla que no se seca jamás. La verdad que la fórmula de Revlon no me resulta para nada. El Nfu-oh tiene muy buena fórmula, se necesitan tres capas, pero el color es más intenso, del estilo de Aquadelic de China Glaze (que pos supuesto también me gusta!).
