Brie, Mozzarella & Salami Heart Pizza

Now that I can cook again, I'm back to making homemade pizzas on a regular basis and this one is particularly delicious. I didn't intend to make it in a heart shape, but it shaped so easily I wanted to share it with you to bookmark for an easy Valentine's dinner or just for fun! The combination of the brie, mozzarella and crispy salami was so flavorful and delicious it won over John Shea too.

It was a beautiful afternoon so we sat outside on the back porch in the sunshine to eat together. John set his second piece down to pick up his cup of milk and Cam grabbed his pizza thinking he was done and how much he would love to eat that last piece. Oh, no, no, no, Dadda! John saw Cam take a bite and then lost it. He stomped his legs, cried like he was in pain and then literally threw himself on the ground. We had never seen him act like that before and was in total hysterics until Cam gave him back his piece of pizza. He took a bite inbetween adorable full body sniffles and all was right in the world again. Haha, seeing these photos of him is literally making me laugh outloud all over again! Suffice to say, even toddlers love this pizza!

Angry side eye. "Don't even think about it, Dadda."

Brie, Mozzarella & Salami Heart Pizza

1 fresh pizza dough (my recipe is here! Trader Joe's also makes excellent dough)
8oz fresh mozzarella, marinated or not, sliced
8oz brie, sliced
1/4 - 1/2 lb salami, thinly sliced
extra virgin olive oil
fine sea salt

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.

Whether you make the dough yourself or use a storebought one, let it sit for about a half an hour. On a lightly floured cookie sheet, roll out the dough to about a 1/4 inch thick, shaping it into a heart if you desire.

Generously drizzle EVOO all over the dough, including the crust. Lift up half of the dough and drizzle just enough on the pan to cover where the dough touches it. Do the same with the other side of the pizza dough. This is how I keep it from sticking to the pan when I don't use my pizza stone. Spread out the mozzarella and fill in the holes with the pieces of brie. Top with the salami. Bake uncovered for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and the crust is very lightly browned. It's wonderful with Prosecco!
