Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

Hi Roadies! It's Julia here today with a recent mixed media canvas I've created for the holidays. I love creating canvases using my paper crafting supplies. They make great decor pieces and also make great gifts.

I wanted to create a holiday design to share with you today but sadly they are over so quickly! As snow is festive but also can be used through the winter months, it seemed like the perfect solution to my dilemma.

This canvas mixed media project is created on a 6" x 8" canvas that I picked up at an art supply store. It's pre-treated with gesso so all I had to do was start painting and layering my project. The canvas background for this design is layers of white paint, vintage sheet music papers, turquoise paint that has been applied to bubble wrap and then stamped onto my canvas and then a snowflake layer created with texture paste and a snowflake stencil.

Then comes my favorite part...adding in all the beautiful layers of Maya Road embellishments. The chipboard letters, snowflake chipboard pieces and the metal frame have all been painted white with gesso and then adhered to the canvas. Some of the sweet details are vintage buttons, paper roses, trinket pins and a bottle of silver glass glitter.

I think my ultimate favorite embellishment of the year award goes to the darling Maya Road resin deer! I just can't get enough of him and he makes a sweet addition to the sentiment on this canvas. You can also see the texture paste snowflakes in this image to get a better look at the dimension of this project.

To finish off my design, I added in some beautiful clear glass glitter around the edges of the canvas to add a glittery, icy look.
