rosie the riveter costume

Yes. This happened.

I dressed up Baby Bird as Rosie the Riveter for Halloween. Possibly my favourite costume ever because every piece is wearable on its own. Cue angels singing. You guys know i love costumes that are multi use! Also feminist icons FTW!

So I know Halloween was weeks ago now, but i really had to blog this make because i love it too much. We’re cool with more costumes right? Though i feel like i’ve blogged a tonne of costumes this year hehehe

This was so easy – there are only 3 elements: a white onesie, denim romper overalls and a bow headband (FREE pattern here). A lot of people have asked me how to make this romper and it’s dead easy – it’s literally bloomers with a square sewn in the front and straps. That’s it. It was super quick. I know there are tonnes of bloomer/diaper cover patterns out there if you’re thinking of trying something similar.

I’m honestly so happy with how this turned out! The oooonly thing i’m going to change is the addition of snap closures in the front. I was trying to make things easy with the elastic straps and they worked fine for one day, but they’re a bit of a pain for nappy changes, so i will definitely need to fix them soon.

I know i often forget to share detail photos of my makes with you – but i actually remembered this time!!! I hope it helps get a little clearer idea of what i did :) So if you’d like to create your own baby Rosie, you’ll need:

  1. A white/plain onesie
  2. Overall rompers which you can DIY using a bloomer pattern
  3. Bow headband using this tutorial
And you’re done!!

GAH i love this baby! She is so cute!
