Guildford Vintage Fair

I keep finding myself in Cathedrals lately and I am not the slightest bit religious. They are incredible buildings though. From the outside they don’t appear that big. However, the sheer enormity of them when you first step inside is breathtaking; it’s quite hard to scale in photos. Of course Guildford Cathedral is not quite on the same grandeur level as St Paul’s (I watched the Christmas service in December). It was though, a fantastic space for the vintage fair I visited yesterday.

I didn’t even intend to take photos for a blog post. Eva Rae had her very first choir performance and I had taken along my camera to capture the moment. I couldn’t resist getting all snap happy when I saw the abundance of vintage garms and craft trinkets…much to my sisters dismay. I can imagine it’s very annoying to be family or friends with a blogger. That’s why I do try my very best not to photograph absolutely everything I do. I love a surprise blog post outing though!

I’m like the queen, I rarely carry cash on me. I really was expecting to just go and watch my daughter sing in a performance. Maybe it was for the best I didn’t have any money on me as there was so much stuff I wanted to buy. There was a 60s wool jacket for £27, old books turned into clutches. A box of hats for £10. Dammit I loved the grey one I tried on! Lottie did have some money on her so she treated Eva to a little wooden arc and two by two animals that you may spot on the bottom shelf above.

There was lots of activities. For kids there was face painting and card making. Eva waited for ages at a felt animal making stall and when a free chair became available a little girl just rushed over an plonked her backside on the chair. I went over to say to the stall owner…didn’t you notice us just standing here and waiting. The mother said “oh sorry, I didn’t realise you were waiting”. I said ok that’s fine thinking she will ask her daughter to move, but she didn’t. I looked again at the stall lady and she insisted we will have to wait until a chair becomes free. I was in disbelief and said to Eva we will not be waiting anymore or spending any money on this stall. Of course she started screaming and the venue was rolling their eyes at me. I just can’t get over how rude some people are. Sorry…I just had to have a little rant about that, I was STEAMING! #firstworldproblems

This poncho, black jeans & OTK boots ensemble seems to be my go to combo at the moment… As seen in my winter poncho outfit post. It’s just so warm and easy to wear! I need to do a little post dedicated to my obsession with the Ridley jeans soon. I have tried a million and one pairs of jeans and the ASOS style wins hands down on affordable denim.

Apart from the one little moment I really enjoyed this vintage fair. I don’t usually go to things like this, but will definitely keep my eyes out for similar things nearby.

Later Edit: Due to the success of this vintage fair. The Boileroom have announced 2 more dates at Guildford Cathedral – 2nd of May & the 18th of July
