It’s very rare for us living on the tropical parts of the world to experience the cold weather that the four seasoned countries have, that’s why we rarely have the luxury of dressing up for it with layers. The past few weeks the Philippines have experienced a colder climate than the usual, especially in the early mornings and at night. Last weekend, we’ve decided to take a small getaway to Baguio City to turn the cold up a notch. Just to let my foreign readers in, Baguio is the summer capital of the Philippines and is situated in way up North. The weather is colder than most of the Philippines because it is located in the mountains of Benguet, 5000 ft above sea level.
Packing for this trip took me a little longer than usual and made me realise one thing – I don’t know how to pack for the cold. Preparing for the beach takes me so fast, I have a shelf in my cabinet dedicated for that, but for this trip, a totally different story. Being in a tropical country all my life, I've never needed to stock up on cold climate essentials, I only have my blazers and jackets which are sometimes not enough for the 16 deg C in Baguio especially at night, I needed some reinforcements. (I know that's still nothing compared to the 10 deg F that New York had last week or the negative temperature, on a regular basis in some parts of Canada.) I was so close the typing on google what to wear for cold weather. Luckily, my favourite travel buddy who is not that comfortable with the cold in general, is always prepared.
