The luxury eyewear industry is mostly dominated by ready-to-wear brands (Prada, Saint Laurent,…) or international licenses (Ray-Ban for example). Just go to your local department store to verify it. It’s rare to find independent names capable to compete with them on an international scale. Barton Perreira is certainly the most prominent one. Founded in 2007 by Patty Perreira and Bill Parton, the brand’s momentum never faded since. I recently had the opportunity to meet with Patty who kindly accepted to discuss the reasons of their success and what makes Barton Perreira so different. First, I want to know more your history, how and why the company was created? Bill Barton and I shared a vision to create an eyewear label that would represent a new time, independence, quality, and culture. We were both integral in the success of other eyewear companies. In addition to creating collections for Oliver Peoples, I designed collections for Prada, Miu Miu, Jil Sander, Helmut Lang, Paul Smith and Vera Wang.
