Making your bed is not a chore, it’s a luxury! I’m telling you this should be your one and only new year’s resolution if you don’t already do it. The moment I decided to make my bed every morning was one of my smartest. You really do yourself such a favor to come home to a freshly made bed. It’s something I never don’t do and I’m always glad I did. Even when I’m in a super rush I will pull the covers up and throw the pillows back in place so that at least I don’t have to encounter the previous night’s mess when I come home.

Here are my 3 big rules to having a cozy, elegant and easy-to-make bed:

European square pillows: Have at least two or three euro square pillows on your bed in addition to the standard pillows that you sleep on. These will give your bed an instant luxurious lift and are easy to throw in place when you’re making your bed.
A comforter with a duvet cover: Get a down or down alternative comforter/duvet and duvet cover that you can remove and wash. These are better options to the polyester filled comforters because it’s easier to keep fresh and always looks more elegant.
Throw pillows: One or more throw pillows on your bed will bring in much needed pattern and design. It’s also a quick and easy trick to make your bed look perfectly made by pulling up the sheet, comforter, placing your euro pillows and then tossing the throw pillows in front. Think of them as the accessories for your bed… an outfit always looks better with the perfect accessories!
