East London | Columbia Road Flower Market

This weekend Jack took me and Orlaith to the Columbia Road Flower Market in East London. It was my first time there and we had a really great day. There were lots of stalls with so many different types of flowers and succulents, and everything was very well priced!
The market is open on Sundays from 8am to 3pm, and we headed there at around 1pm and the crowds were really big. Next time I go, and there will be a next time, I'll head there much earlier in the morning to try and beat the crowds. I am really not a crowd lover at all.
There were lots of little independant shops along the streets behind the flower stalls and lots of alleys and cobbled streets to wander down and explore. I got myself a cosy cape from a vintage clothes rack and Orlaith enjoyed doing a little busking with some street performers and managed to lure in quite a crowd.
After our wandering about we stopped for lunch at a pub called The Birdcage on the corner of Columbia Road and Wellington Row. They had a simple menu which was a choice of four pies. Jack and I both chose the steak and ale pie. It's been a long time since I've had a traditional pie and I wasn't disappointed.
