There is this fine line where minimalistic and rustic styles meet to create an astonishing result. I'm not sure there is a term such as contemporary rustic minimalism but, as you will see from the following images, it definitely fits the description. Stark spaces, a careful and sparse use of furniture and accessories, lack of colors which are mostly represented by neutral shades and the b&w palette, unrefined surfaces including reclaimed woods, unpolished metals, rough stone and sturdy concrete are some of its basic characteristics. The atmosphere is a blend between the masculine and often cold contemporary approach and the more welcoming and casual country vibe. Definitely not a style for the faint hearted (
or, to be realistic, for most everyday types) but it is, for sure, one to study, inspire by and dream about.
Would you try such a design in your home, given the circumstances? Or, is it just a bit too stiff for you?View Full Post
