Kitchen Switch Plate Upgrade + GIVEAWAY!

Helloo-o-oo...Anybody there? Yes indeed it has been a while but I'm back today to share a fun DIY that I tackled recently in our kitchen and the best part of all is...there's a Giveaway for you!

The lovely company InvisiPlate contacted me after reading my post about whether or not to paint my outlet covers after I painted our kitchen from white to gray. In the end I wound up leaving my outlet covers white and while they stood out, I just figured it was something I would have to deal with.

But then InvisiPlate contacted me and said they would like to send me some switch plates to try out, to which I gladly accepted! The great thing about these switch plates is they come already primed and ready to paint. If I were to try and paint my regular glossy switch plates the paint would not stick and would easily and quickly start to peel. InvisiPlates also come in different textures to match textured walls. My walls are smooth but if your home has textured walls, these are a great solution.

So when they sent them to me I decided I didn't really want the look of painted covers...so I decoupaged them! Since the plates were free, all this project cost was about 4 sheets of scrapbooking paper that totaled less than $3.

And let me tell you: I am in love!

Covering the plates was actually super simple and the paper stuck like a charm and seem to be held on tight for the long haul, thanks to them being already primed.

I chose a simply tanny-gray scrapbook paper with a quatrefoil design and I am loving the simple neutral design and subtle pattern that is now dotted throughout our space.

The outlets and switches don't stand out nearly as much now and the new patterned plates just make me smile every time I walk in the room!
