I don’t normally design or construct anything “custom”. I’m allergic to that word. But, when my dear friend Susan asked if I would custom make her wedding dress…. I said yes! (yes, just like a proposal). For 6 months we went back and forth w/designs, made changes, added things, took off things, beaded things, figured out chariots, went through several chain options, had several muslin fittings, ordered fabrics 3 times….. yea, we had a somewhat long dress engagement for sure. Susan knew exactly what she wanted (after the evolving stage), I just had to figure out how to master the construction….. BEADS AND CHAINS GALORE!! She’s not only strikingly beautiful, but super talented.. she designed, planned and made each and every detail for both wedding and reception….every flower arrangement, every tiny pearl on each skull, personalized invitations, down to painting the table runners! Her personal style and touches made for one bad ass wedding. Sooo Rock-n-Roll. Well, she did marry the lead guitarist for Black Tusk, Andrew Fidler.
