Nail Technology: Week 1

Hi everyone! As most of you know, I recently started attending school for nail technology. My first week was so much fun! On my first day, I received my OPI Nail Tech Kit. The kit is so large that it was a little overwhelming, but super exciting!
I spent my first week practicing filing nail shapes, applying silk wraps, and forming full nail acrylics. The nail shaping was something I was definitely already familiar with, but it was a lot of fun to get to play around the shaping, since I always keep my own nails squared off. The silk wraps were new to me though. I really enjoyed doing them, and am looking forward to being able to repair nail cracks this way. I was a little nervous about trying my hand at acrylics for the first time, but it came much more easily that I thought it might.
I am really looking forward to next week's lessons. I am so happy to be in school for something I already love so much! I'll keep you updated weekly!

Above is my first set of full nail acrylics.

Of course, I had to add a little polish, so I applied two coats of OPI Cajun Shrimp and a light gradient with China Glaze Fairy Dust.

I went a little squoval with this set, and added Color Club The Sweet Life, and some random dots with China Glaze 2Nite and Cirque Colors Memento Mori.

I was curious how the acrylic would look with a negative space design, so I did a bubble gradient with Cirque Colors Memento Mori and Carpe Diem.

I did some sharper ovals and topped them with Zoya Cole and polka dotted with Cirque Colors Carpe Diem.

I was looking through the classroom polish supply, and the very last bottle on the shelf made me freak out a little bit ... the super holo version of OPI My Private Jet. You know there was no way I couldn't use that one! I paired it with these vampy edge points.
