Princess Pumpkins

So I have to share the cutest Halloween gift my girls received from Grandma Gail.

It is called Princess Pumpkins. She is very crafty and loves to search on pinterest for inspiration. She came across a similar princess pumpkin but tweaked it a little bit by adding more bling, colors, and artificial pumpkins. She wanted the girls to enjoy these pumpkins all year-long.

How to make your own Princess Pumpkins:

Supplies:

Artificial pumpkin

Super glue

Glitter craft foam paper

Colored Plastic Gems (we bought party favor rings and popped the gems out)

Glitter paint – I used silver, pink and blue

Princess buttons

Rhinestone gem stickers

Purple and Pink flower gems and glitter circles (not stickers – like a little bag sold for card making) These are what I used under the windows and above the door.

Princess Tiara (dollar store)

Princess dolls (dollar store)

Cut windows and door into pumpkin

Cut glitter craft foam paper to frame windows (I used longer strips and top and bottom of windows with short strips on the sides) My paper had adhesive, so I peeled the paper and doused it with super glue.

Using the glitter paint, draw patterns and dots around the door – be careful – the paint tends to ‘slide’ so use sparingly. I let the pumpkins sit for a couple of hours after this. Gems don’t like to stick to the glitter paint, so if you want to be able to put a decoration in it, make sure you leave an open area for the glue and decoration.

Using a bright-colored glitter glue, outline the interior cut-outs of the windows and doors.

When glitter paint is dry, super glue gems, buttons, decorations and rhinestones to the pumpkin. You can’t go wrong here. Since I was making 2, I divided up my ‘pretty things’ and just started gluing. I put gems at the corners of the windows to help hide the seams of the glitter paper. Some of the buttons had little hoops on the back, so I just carved a tiny ‘gouge’ in the pumpkin and then glued them on. If anything had adhesive, I peeled the paper before gluing.

Cut a circle for a carpet for the inside of pumpkin and super glue it down. One of the pumpkins needed a little bit of padding around the center to make it level enough for the doll to stand on. I cut tiny strips of felt and super glued these down around the center until it was level and then glued the carpet over it. Before you glue the carpet, make sure you don’t see any felt sticking out. I had to trim a couple of pieces.

Lay the tiara on top. Mine had combs so I marked those areas with a pencil and carved out a slit for the combs to fit in. Part of the comb sticks out so the tiara lays somewhat flat. If you wanted, you could maybe add some ribbon or decorative trim to hide that. I left it alone.

That’s it! Add the dolls and let them play!
