Beauty Edition

Nasty Gal’s resident hair genius, Rachel Brady, has continued to work her magic backstage at Milan Fashion Week. Check out the lust-worthy hair she created for designer’s Etro, Dolce & Gabbana, Costume National, and more!

Mila Schon
“Mila is all about luxury and old world craft and beauty. The girls looked like Michelangelo beauties with flushed cheeks an diaphanous hair that wafted down the catwalk. It was so fitting in the historic setting of Leonardo Da Vinci’s Museum of Science. Peter Gray lead the hair and crafted a young, effortless ponytail so carefree it was almost falling off…!”

Dolce & Gabbana
“This season it was all about Mama! Mothers and daughters (some of them still babies) walked the show, making for 94 models in all. Guido Palau fashioned swift chignons in the classic dolce widow shape but gave it a non chalance mussed up feel. With giant dolce jewels attached and blinded out headphones covered with fur this mama is definitely werking it!”

Gabriele Colangelo
“Italian finery fur and leather, wool jumpsuits, and wide-leg trousers abounded! The collection was so sophisticated that we needed to make the hair very careless. We swept it all back to make it seem as did-it-herself as we could and messed it up around the face with some bits pulled out of the buns so they’d waft on the runway. Peter Gray lead the team on these precise yet billowy buns.”

Etro

“This show was beyond! James Pecis is a rebel in the hair world and he showed us some amazing themes in Milan. A broken wave and an ‘uncurl’ with shine and texture. If you aren’t on your beach-wave game you better start now, because summer is right around the corner!”

Costume National
“James Pecis did hair to match the inspiration for the collection which was super ’90s rock ‘n’ roll. Amoungst the pictures of the collection were images of Patti Smith and Keira Knightly. Some of the girls got a knot sewn in the hair with leather and twine and finished with a black raven’s feather. Dark witchy perfection!”

Les Copains

“The inspiration for the hair at Le Copains was ’90s Linda Evangelista—dream inspo for sure…! Peter Gray led the team on these chic up-dos with bejeweled knots and swept up crowns.”
