Valentine's Day + St. Patrick's Day + Labor Day 2014

Soooooooo...let's talk about some of the little celebrations from the first half of 2014, okay?
For Valentine's Day, Adam and Asher "helped" me make these mini pies and deliver them to Nathan and his co-workers. It's probably something I could have done in 40 minutes by myself, but I swear this took like 4 hours. Just think how long it'd take me to make a full size pie with home-made pie crust! Seriously, how hard is it to get myself and the kids dressed and dump some canned fruit into pre-made, store-bought pie crust? Apparently, it's a lot harder than it sounds! BUT (!!!) we made it there on time, and I actually followed through with an idea (huge step for me!).
After dropping off the pies at Nathan's work and letting Adam get his wiggles out in the physical therapy room (aka his idea of a play room), we headed on a super romantic family date to Costco! We had just become new members of Costco, and we were still in that hazy heaven of, "SERIOUSLY A WHOLE POLISH DOG AND DRINK FOR ONLY $1.25?!" Adam and Asher were little goofballs and Nathan and I just kept looking at each other and smiling like, "Whelp, this is Valentine's Day!"
Next, we have St. Patrick's Day! We started of the day with a green breakfast: avocados, kiwis, and green smoothies (spinach, kale, banana, and pineapple). I thought I was hilarious and posted this on Instagram with the caption: I made my first ever green smoothie this morning, but I didn't have a mason jar to drink it from. Asher is embarrassed for me.
I cut out green shamrocks and "hid" them all over the house for Adam to find when he woke up. He seriously had so much fun! I love when such simple things make my children so happy. Even Archie wanted to join in on the fun!
That afternoon, I thought we could use a green pepper to make shamrocks, but maybe I forgot that my kids were only one and two....and they mostly just painted all over themselves and crawled up stairs...paint hand prints all the to the top! At least it's funny NOW, right?
We celebrated Memorial Day with our friends, the McInelly's. It was a fun evening with friends, badminton, BBQ dinner, and s'mores. Mmmmm....s'mores. I definitely had my fair share. In the picture above, I'm eating my third s'more made with a dark chocolate Reese's cup. Reviewing this post now, I'm noticing that every holiday celebration was basically centered around FOOD. It's what brings everyone together, right? Anyway, Happy (very belated!!) Valentine's, St. Patrick's, and Labor Day to you all! :)
