I've got a mad crush on old school seam binding.

I've been meaning to share a shopping spot with you since back at Thanksgiving, but life has been so busy, that I looked at the calendar, and Christmas is here! (which I am painfully aware is too late to benefit your holiday shopping for this year, but maybe it will inspire you for all of the wonderful projects ahead in 2015.)

It's a fabuous shop located online on ebay.

I used to think ebay was for selling used items only. You know, cars...cameras...stuff like that. Well, it is, but you can also get great deals on brand new things there too.

And that is where I found Zipperstop.I first learned about Hug seam binding way back about six or seven (or eight) years ago, thanks to my friend Dawn, way back when! In case you haven't used it before, let me share exactly what it is.

This is the old-school kind of seam binding, originally used for sewing, and completely not like the seam binding you buy at your local fabric shops. It comes in a gajillion colors, in hundred yard rolls, and it has become somewhat of an addiction of mine.This is made of a natural fabric, and you can add the most wonderful touches to any tablescape or craft you're creating by adding a bit of flat or crumpled seam binding.

Seriously, it will change your life.

You can use it as it comes off the roll, or add a crumpled look to it, which is my favorite way to use it. The secret to giving your seam binding a vintage, soft, kind-of crumpled look is to simply cut a length of seam binding...a few yards will do...and then crumple it in your hand, and wet it under the faucet. Squeeze out the excess water, and then let the crumbled ball of seam binding sit on a towel and dry over night. Once dry, it is a luciously crumpled mass of ribbon! Perfect for attaching name tags to packages or wine glass stems, and for adorning pretty much anything.

You don't have to crumple it though, and Dawn shares a tutorial on her blog where you can make fringe from your seam binding. (I love this!)

I've never found this kind of seam binding anywhere but online, and nowhere have I found better prices and selections than Zipperstop on ebay.

(Warning! If you love the vintage look like I do, and you like to create and entertain, and decorate, you are gonna find it hard to narrow your color choices down to anthing under ten.)
