Make Your Own Gold Pens

My favorite pen has always been the cheap black ink Bic. I saw somewhere on the internet (that I can't find now) someone had made pens to look like Bic pens but they where real gold and silver and real expensive. I really liked the look though and thought I would recreate the look without getting rid of the cheap pens best feature. That it doesn't matter if you lose them.

Ideally I would of used a piece of styrofoam to stick my pens into but I surprisingly didn't have any in the house. Instead I filled a small cardboard box with sand and stuck the tips of the pens in. I cut drinking straws in half to stick in the sand and hold the pen lids for painting. I sprayed the pens down with two coats of gold spray paint and let dry. I didn't know how well the paint would stick to the plastic pens. It stays on the pens nicely but will scratch off the lids if your trying. Still worth it for the look though.
