Runway Report: Elizabeth and James Fall 2015

Elizabeth and James’ designers, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen joined the multitude of brands by pulling inspiration from the 1970’s for their Fall 2015 collection except as going ultra-glam isn’t their style the pair put their signature minimal and sophisticated spin on the decade. Sleek and sexy without being overtly so, there were matte jersey and draped crepe dresses with side slits and keyhole necklines, 70’s signatures like the turtleneck were slim fitted and elongated to floor-length gowns while also shown as chunky and sleeveless and paired with crepe midi skirts. There was also a great play on texture thanks to mongolian lamb and a teddy bear knit for their perfectly oversized outerwear, mohair blended maxi cardigans and nomad textured knits.

And while the beautifully cut and tailored clothes took centerstage at the presentation, it was all of the new luxe handbag styles that nearly stole the show. Their now staple center-zip bucket bag was of course present but fun additions for FW15 included a tiered lambskin fringe covered tote, leather and suede fold over clutches, new duffels and satchels in a striking shade of red and embossed croc and finally fur and shearling covered shoulder bags with chain detail.
