Runway Report: Reem Acra Fall 2015

It was all about a modern day Marie Antoinette at Reem Acra’s Fall 2015 presentation. From bejewelled high collars to billowing sleeve leather jackets, and fur adorned shoulder pads, the designer brought back an era famous for its subversive glamour. However it was modernized as the hemlines were lifted, and three-tiered, translucent bauble skirts floated across the runway, as young aristocrats marched forward.

There was a plethora of Acra’s signature and highly effective embroidery, mostly in gold, and patchworks of Swarovski elements ornamented the delicate lace on the faces of floor length gowns. Beading was prevalent, and a few modest nude gowns were entirely covered in black beating. Reem Acra’s collection presentations almost always conjure a colourful dream of delight and sparkle. This was no different.
