Holiday Shopping At Westfield Trumbull Shopping Mall

Westfield Trumbull Shopping Mall 5065 Main St. Trumbull, Conn. Shopping Hours: Monday- Saturday: 10am-9:00pm / Sunday: 11am-6pm Instagram|Twitter @WestfieldTRU #shoptrumbull

On Saturday I had the chance to do some holiday shopping at the Westfield Trumbull Shopping Mall in Trumbull, Connecticut. My Connecticut mall experience was limited to the two that are nearest to me and so I was pretty excited to see what the Trumbull Mall had to offer.

The mall is a two-story structure located at 5065 Main Street in Trumbull right off of the Merrit Parkway. It’s a about an hour from Hartford and the Bronx, and 25 minutes from New Haven. The mall was renovated, four years ago and everything looked sleek, modern and felt brand spanking new.

The hallways are quite wide which allowed us to move through the mall with ease. As a matter of fact it didn’t at all feel crowded (not according to the parking lot though.) I loved that there was a great mix of shoppers and I absolutely loved the great selection of stores which included: Macys, Sephora, Apple, Lush, Michael Kors, Uniqlo, Aldo, H&M, J.C. Penny, Lord & Taylor AND Target! The mall also has a number of fast food specialty chain restaurants including the Cheesecake Factory.

As part of our visit, we had the chance to visit four of the retailers to see what they had in stores for the holiday season.

Francesca’s Collection

Our first stop was Francesca’s a women’s clothing boutique specializing in whimsical and eclectic, trendy clothes, handbags, shoes, jewelry, & gifts. I have a few costume jewelry items that I purchased from Francesca’s in the past. I actually thought that this was what they were known for but apparently, their bar & entertainment, religious items and home & gifts are also big sellers. There is an endless selection of interesting and cute gifts that you can find in this store. I would definitely stop here if you are shopping for the person who has “everything” or is difficult to shop for. None apparel gifts range from $8 to $30.

Banana Republic

Banana Republic shed their safari theme long ago and now thanks to their new creative director Marissa Webb {@marissawebb}, the brand will be taking their current aesthetic of “office-ready contemporary wear” to street-style-chic. According to Whom What Wear, Webb’s 2015 summer collection for Banana Republic is the “the chicest collection of clothing Banana Republic has possibly ever produced.” I’m excited about the aesthetic that Webb, the former head of J. Crew women’s wear design will inject in the Banana Republic brand, but I hope that they don’t lose the dapper-chic aesthetic that they have for their men’s collection.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that my feed is often times dominated with images of well dressed, dapper men. Banana Republic seems to be the source of this. Even their current in store collection for women have a strong men’s influence. Their top sellers is this short sleeved vegan leather, faux fur trimmed vest ($150) and their military inspired pieces, both for women (see image above). If you are looking for gift ideas, they have a collection of perfumes and colognes ($50 – $60) and accessories for both men and women that you can chose from. If you have the kind of guy that prefers an outfit vs a new toy of some kind, then consider this (see image above) burgundy sweater, plaid shirt and khaki pants combo which together is less than $250.

F&F Clothing

Our next stop was F&F {Florence & Fred} Clothing, a British retailer owned by the Tesco company. This brand is new to the United States. As a matter of fact, the Westfield Trumbull Shopping Mall location was the second store to open here in the United States. There are 6 other stores on the east coast located in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The price point of this store is very similar to H&M and Uniqlo, which are also located in the mall. F&F Clothing carries apparel and accessories for the entire family. Their women’s collection has a London urban chic feel making this store the ideal spot for fashionista’s or fashion enthusiasts on a budget. Their outer wear is quite popular as are their sweaters (or should I saw jumpers) which are smartly priced. Their sweaters are their most recommended gift items. I will be posting a few of them on my instagram account later this week. {Search @onewomansstyle or #shoptrumbull}

The Limited

Our final stop was The Limited, which is also known for their office-ready contemporary collection for professional women. The brand recently launched a collection inspired by actress Kerry Washington’s character Olivia Pope from ABC’s hit drama, Scandal. The 42-piece collection — with items ranging from $49 to $248 was designed by Washington, costume designer Lyn Paolo and the Limited’s Elliot Staples. The colors are neutral but the pieces are stylish and will definitely leave you feeling like a gladiator in a suit.

Shopping for Holiday gifts is a breeze at this store. Opera gloves from the Scandal collection, and scarves are your best bet. If you are looking for more ideas, check out their suggestions listed in their Holiday Gift Guide.
