4 Deadly Islands You DON’T Want to Visit!

The world is filled with so many beautiful places so that you will (unfortunately) never be able to visit them all during your lifetime, even it you you spent your entire life traveling. With that said, not all of them are ideal for a holiday visit, at least not without knowing what you are getting yourself into first! Below are four of the worlds most dangerous and deadly islands that you might want to skip on your vacation.

Fraser Island

Outside of the Australian East Coast lies Fraser Island, an island with incredible wildlife and great beaches. However, swimming here is something you will do at your own risk, as you’ll share the water with sharks, deadly jellyfish, as well as venomous snakes. If you’re lucky enough to survive you swim, you’re actually not that lucky after all – seeing you’ll instead face the risk being bitten by extremely poisons spiders, attacked by a crocodile or get hit in the head by a really heavy pine cone.

Bikini Atoll

Although the Bikini Atoll is on Unesco list of World Heritage Sites, things are certainly not the way they appear to be in this seeming paradise. Between 1946 and 1958 this was the site for more than 20 nuclear weapon tests. The Island has been declared “safe” since 18 years back, but it is hard to feel fully convinced seeing how people are advised to not eat the local foods. As if this wasn’t enough, the lack of fishing in the area during the last 65 years has contributed to a flourished sea life, including a big population of sharks.

Ilha da Queimad

You will find Ilha da Queimada, also called Snake Island, off the coast of Brazil. As you might have guessed from its nickname, this island is literally crawling with snakes. The island is home to thousands of Golden Lancehead Vipers, among others, and many of the snakes on the island are even considered among the worlds most venomous. As if this wasn’t enough already the snake population is dense too, and it’s been said that there are about five of them per every square meter! Keeping the snakes company, there used to be one lighthouse keeper on the island, but nowadays, the snakes have to do without human company as the Brazilian Navy has banned civilians from the island and it’s actually even illegal to go here.

Ramree Island

The Island of Ramree, off the coast of Myanmar (Burma), is mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records for being host to the record holding incident of the ”The Greatest Disaster Suffered (by humans) from Animals”. In 1945 Japanese troops, of an estimated 1000 Japanese soldiers, were forced to flee into the marshes that surround the island, also home to an unknown number of the largest reptilian predator in the world — the saltwater crocodile. It is said to have been a horrible event filled with dire screams, gunfire, and the sounds of animal attacks, where less than half of the Japanese soldiers going into the marshes, came out.
