A Brand New Life Together

** If you are new here, and wondering, well who are these gorgeous people?! Backstory is HERE. This was the only photo I got with the Polaroid 600SEAwhile back I blogged about our friend Corinne, who was adopting a baby from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and needed some extra help so she could take an extended leave away from her business and go and stay with her boy while she waited out the red tape of adopting-- mainly she wanted to make sure her son was seeing the light of day. After her first trip to the orphanage to meet him, she couldnt stand the thought of not being there every day to keep him safe and completely focused on. He had spent most of his young life on his back in a crib with a bottle, inside that orphanage. Some of you passed on the post I wrote, you cared, opened your heart, chipped in, and followed her story along, it was beautiful. There was quite a bit of uncertainty, (as is usually the case with international adoptions) as to how long Corinne would actually be in Ethiopia waiting it out for the final papers and the law of the land to stamp what needed to be stamped, and then send them on their way home to be a new family. So she did the right thing and planned for the worst, and with the help of her close friends, and her family, and many of the people that read here, in just a couple days, Corinne had reached her financial goal for her extended stay in Addis. Now, one thing that she made clear and I thought was amazing, was that if things went quick, and she got to come home sooner than she had planned with the baby, she would take whatever money was left over and donate it to the orphanage. Awesome right?! Having spent so much time there getting to know the nannies there, and the other kids, she couldnt be happier to pass on the good will. The orphanage has so many needs that deciding on what would be the biggest help to them has proven to be a complicated decision. One of the options that I love the most is buying them their own cow. Whatever she decides to do, I know it will be amazing-- there were so many of you that read here, that decided to help her, and I personally wanted to say thank you again. I thought the best way to say thank you, was to share some photos I took of them recently as they warm into life together. Corinne has been home with Baby G for a couple weeks now, and is getting to experience the social storm from every person in their life lining up to meet this new little light in her life. Its exciting to be around energy like this, big toothy smiles, and loud laughs, and that great silence. That silence that falls over a room when all eyes are fixed on this little tiny person discovering his new world and everyone zones out in awe of life. Corinne definitely has the new mom glow, and the connection these two had was unreal. Baby G is a calm cucumber and I am sure that came in handy on the 30 hour trip home. He has a great laugh, a sweet cry, and he looks you all the way through. I cant wait to see this kid grow up. He is so cool already. You can keep up with them over at Corinnes Tumblr called Wheels-Up!
