Backstage at Barre Noire: Be Happy, Cheeky, Little Smile, Kick Ass, Have Fun

In case you missed it, this year Berlin Fashion Week took place in my favourite ghetto hood Wedding due to the football fan-mile having taken over the Brandenburg gate. It was slightly surreal with builders walking to their work on the other side of the road with the typical Sternburg beer glued to their hand while women in heels, the occasional drag queen and the various fashion industry insiders made their way to the Erika Hess ice rink where the shows took place. In addition to the apocalyptic weather and humid temperatures it was a completely new fashion week experience that I personally adored.

People were far more relaxed and I met up with so many lovely individuals including Carola from Vienna Wedekind and Theresa (!) from The Habit, who was magically in Berlin all the way from LA. My favourite aspect of blogging is definitely the people you end up having internet based friendships with that then form into real live beating heart ones. I miss both of you already but I’m sure it’s not the first and last time we meet :).

With one of the models who I met at the Barre Noire fitting I trotted to the backstage area where I spent an hour timidly shoving my camera into various people’s faces to give you an idea of the human anthill that exists before all these beautiful creatures make their way onto the catwalk to present to us the latest creations of, in this case, Barre Noire’s designer Timm Süßbrich.
