DIY Necklace Display

Hi Everyone!
Welcome to Part III of DIY jewelry displays.

Today's post is on the DIY necklace display featured in my video.
DIY Jewelry Organizers Video

Let's get started!

On a piece of foam board, measure the size of display you want. Then add an extra 1" to 1.5" to that length and trace. I'm making a narrow display to fit my drawer but you can make any size.
Cut out the piece of foam board.
Hold the foam board over the edge of a table, with 1" to 1.5" resting on the table like this.
Bend the foam board over the table's edge.
Bend it straight down to create a 90 degree angle.
The foam board should look like this now.
Choose a fabric to cover your foam board and trace a piece a little larger than your display.
Cut your fabric.
I'm also trimming off this stringy edge.
Using a lighter, I'm quickly running the flame along the edges of my fabric, which seals the fabric edge and prevents fraying. This is a synthetic (think satin ribbon) type of fabric that's prone to fraying.
Grab your spray adhesive, I'm using 3M Super 77.
Spray both sides of the foam board.
Press the top of your foam board onto the back side of your fabric.
Smooth out any wrinkles.
Fold over the edges of your fabric.
Pressing and smoothing the fabric edges along the back of the display.
Measure, trace and cut out a piece of scrap book paper slightly smaller than your display.

Spray only the back side of the scrap book paper with spray adhesive.
Center it over the back of your display and press into place.
Smooth out any wrinkles.
I'm using these silver decorative nails or nailhead trim for hanging the necklaces.
Starting on one side, I press the nails into the foam board, directly over the bend. This way they don't poke through the back of the display, they poke into the bent part.
I'm just eyeballing the nailhead placement but I found starting on the ends, then doing the center and finally filling in between those, makes placing them evenly pretty easy.

And you're done!

I love how it turned out, these displays are best for fine, delicate necklaces, which I like to store separately from my larger chunkier pieces.
Well that's it guys! The final installment of my DIY Jewelry Displays/Organizers... that were shown in my video anyway. Who knows I may create more jewelry organizers in the future.
I received a lot of questions regarding the necklaces I have on the display. They are gemstone necklaces from my jewelry line; Aqua Chalcedony, Topaz Citrine and a Pink Amethyst. They're part of our Summer 2014 collection, which I'll be posting all throughout April and May on Etsy. My Etsy shop can always be found at the top of my blog or my YouTube channel page.
xoxo, Christine
