Diwali Sunset

{Photos by Eric; Wearing Havaianas sandals, River Island pants, Zara vest, H&M shirt, Marigolds from local market}
These photos were taken the day of Diwali in Jaipur. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights and it signifies the victory of light over darkness, as well as knowledge over ignorance and good over evil. The streets of India was lit up like Christmas in North America and there were firecrackers going off all night.

The day after Diwali everything was closed and we were bored to death. Kind of like if a foreigner decides to visit North America on Dec 25th they would find there is very little to do other than walk on an empty street looking at lights because all the shops and restaurants are closed. "'Come to India during Diwali!' they say, 'It will be fun!' they say," I remembered complaining to myself, as I lay in my hotel bed watching tennis because that was the only English channel we got.

I have a chain of Marigolds on my head. They are everywhere in India and definitely one of my favorite things to buy at the market. And people use them to decorate their shops all the time here. It definitely brightens the smog and the traffic.
