{Dr. Jart+} BB Bounce Beauty Balm

Hello Lovelies,

My obsession with BB Creams continues. Today I’ll share my thoughts on Dr. Jart’s New BB Bounce Beauty Balm. Let’s take a look!~

Dr. Jart BB Bounce Beauty Balm: A unique bouncing-textured beauty balm formula with rich moisturizing and brightening properties. This multifunctional BB cream is enriched with hydrolyzed collagen and pomegranate extract to firm and tighten skin elasticity as grapeseed oil and arbutin brighten and hydrate. The moist-textured balm conceals blemishes and enlarged pores, corrects uneven skintone and texture, and delivers powerful SPF 30 protection against harmful UV rays. The airtight compact is great for on-the-go touch ups, and the ultra moisturizing formula leaves skin fresh, beautiful, and healthy-looking. Available at Sephora for $48 (Light/Medium and Medium/Deep).

Comes in two shades. Light-Medium and Medium-Deep.
I’m a NC20 so by no means am I considered medium or dark, but the Light-Medium shade was too light for me. Since I purchased the product during summer, I chose to go with the slightly darker shade… which is a bit dark on me, but the better choice out of the two. Shade selection is very limited with only 2 available shades. Boo.

The BB Cream has SPF 30 which is great. The active ingredients include Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide which provides protection against UVA and UVB rays. Both ingredients protect your skin by acting as a physical barrier. The first step to skincare (and most important in my opinion) is sun protection. It’s the best way to preserve youthful beautiful skin. For more information on SPF, please check out my post on the ABC’s of UVA, UVB, and SPF!

The photo below shows the bounce compact close up. Notice the flexible mesh that keeps the product in the compact. Think cheesecloth. The consistency of the BB Cream is super creamy and bouncy.

The sponge that comes with the compact is very useful in application. It is not like regular makeup sponges. It’s not porous at all. This allows all the product to be applied to your face. The sponge doesn’t absorb any product, so no product is wasted. Please note that these types of dense sponges are NOT meant to be washed.

Below is a light handed swatch of the Medium-Deep shade on my skin. It’s slightly too dark for me, but it was a better match than the Light-Medium. That shade was way too light for me.

Below are my before and after photos. I applied it with a heavier hand than what you see in the swatch above. All I can say is that I really hope Dr. Jart expands their shade selections. I really like the product, but don’t love how it looks on my skin when applied as a fuller coverage.

My Final Thoughts:

  • Packaging: Clean and simple. The white compact is a bit challenging to keep clean especially while getting the product onto the sponge, but this probably only bothers me. I’m a bit obsessive about keeping my makeup products clean.
  • Consistency: Creamy and melts onto the skin.
  • Application: Tap, tap, tap. Use the dense sponge that is included with the compact to apply. No product is absorbed into the sponge so there’s no wasted product. If you want a fuller coverage, I recommend using the sponge to apply then using a brush to blend out the hard-to-reach areas (ex: around your nose).
  • Coverage: This BB cream provides a light to medium coverage. The product is very buildable which is nice. But I’d only recommend going medium coverage with the product if it’s the perfect shade match for you. It has a nice dewy finish without being too shiny.
  • Shade selection: Available in 2 shades: Light-Medium and Medium-Deep. They both run very light. In MAC lingo, I’m a NC20. Light-Medium was too light for me. Medium-Deep was a bit too dark. I purchased the Medium-Deep shade since I planned on using the product during the summer. Although the coverage is very buildable, I only use the product for light coverage. I’ve noticed that building coverage accentuates the fact that the shade is not a perfect match. Anyone with a tan or a deeper complexion will not be happy with the shades.
  • Sun Protection: With Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide as the active ingredients, this product provides UVA and UVB protection. Yay! Like I always say, sun protection is the BEST and most important thing you can do for your skin. For more information on SPF, please check out my post on the ABC’s of UVA, UVB, and SPF!
