Herringbone Quilted Vest Four Ways

That J.Crew quilted vest that's all over the internet. You know the one I'm talking about? This one that's a million dollars. Okay, it's really $108, but that is still much more than I'm willing to pay for a vest.
I've wanted a vest like that for years, even before I knew the J.Crew one existed. But for one reason or another I never pulled the trigger, whether it was because it didn't fit me, the price wasn't right, or other reasons. There's a much cheaper one at Old Navy right now (see HERE) that I'll probably scope out and wait for a sale if it looks good on me.
Until then I wanted to play with it to get my creative juices flowing. So, here's a One Piece Many Ways ode to the ever popular herringbone quilted vest. As it turns out, there's about a billion ways to wear a herringbone vest, so there's not really rhyme or reason to the outfits in this post. Just me playing with clothes and combos.

Random note, as you can see I didn't bother much with trying to mix up the footwear because...boots. *insert googly eyes*

(Warning, the riding boots are far more expensive than what I typically feature here. I was shopping online for boots today and got excited about them, so they made their way into this post. I will be trying these boots in real life, along with a few others I found today, and I'll share about them in a future post!)

Outfit 1 - Stripes I really love a vest of any kind paired with a long sleeved stripe tee. I chose black jeans over regular blue jeans to streamline the look, and added cognac boots for a little contrast. I topped it off with a statement necklace, but a chunky scarf of any color (maroon, mustard, orange, green--really anything) would be fun!

Outfit 2 - Plaid & Layers You could wear the outfit with only the plaid shirt, or you can add a pullover for extra layers. I don't know that I'd ever need that many layers in San Diego, but it's fun to pretend with these posts. Anyway, finish the look with a sparkly little gemstone necklace to give this casual outfit a touch of polish.

Outfit 3 - Button Up Shirt I've seen vests often paired with plaid tops, but a polka dot one is fun too. I love maroon with grey, black and cognac for fall!

Outfit 4 - Dress Let's not forget that you can wear a vest over a dress! Wear it over a solid dress, or for more visual interest find a dress with a pattern, like stripes or like this polka dot sweater dress. I included a white button up that you could layer under the dress for more dimension as well as a bit more warmth. You could also add a touch of color with a statement necklace or a scarf.

Like I said, if I can find the Old Navy version of this vest in store I'll give it a try. However, I've ordered the Frost Free Quilted Vest to try, intending to wear it more casually when I need to go on retreats for work. We'll see how that works out as well.
Will you be wearing a vest this fall?
