Best Bacon Ever!

For me, bacon conjures up memories of visiting my grandpa. I’d always wake up to the smell of sizzling bacon – which I think we can all agree is one of the best smells ever. He swears to this day he doesn’t do anything special to his pan-fried specialty, but I’ve never had bacon anywhere else that lives up to his.
Despite the high standards, bacon is a brunch must and I tried this recipe for Mother’s Day. The first time I didn’t follow it exactly, but the flavor was so good I’ve been experimenting all week to perfect the method. It’s still not as good as grandpa’s, but it comes pretty close!
Now, I like my bacon crispy, but if you don’t want it well done, knock the pre-seasoning bake time down to 9 minutes.

Sweet and Smokey Bacon

Ingredients:
6 slices of thick cut bacon
2 tbsp light brown sugar, lightly packed
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 2. Arrange bacon on a baking sheet 3. Bake for 12 minutes 4. Meanwhile stir together the brown sugar, chili powder, and black peper 5. Flip, and sprinkle with seasoning mixture 6. Bake another 8-9 minutes until bacon is done and sugar has caramelized 7. Drain on a paper towel and enjoy!
