Huffhines Park, Richardson TX

Huffhines Park is a fun park with unique features in East Richardson. The playground area is surrounded by trees, but isn’t actually very shady itself. However, the trees make a beautiful backdrop and natural environment. Picnic tables, benches, and pavilions are scattered amongst the trees.

Huffhines Park Details:

  • Location: off of Plano Rd. north of Beltline, map here.
  • Surface material: wood chips
  • Structure material: metal and plastic.
  • Equipment: big kid area, toddler area, tornado slide, two person racing slide, monkey bars, swings, baby swings, climbing walls, unusual ladders and bridges
  • Some benches near playground, other picnic tables and benches throughout larger park.
  • Restrooms, sports fields, pavilions.
  • Lakes and walking trails.
  • Ducks!
  • Huffhines Recreation Center nearby.

Our favorite part of Huffhines Park is some of the more unique play features, like this unusual stepped bridge thing. It was challenging for Jaye at 2, and I had to follow closely behind, but she loved crossing it step by step.

The main play structure, above is big compared to most other parks. Jaye also enjoyed the rock step wall on the far right of this picture and several of the uniquely shaped climbing ladders.

Huffhines Park wasn’t in the best of repair. You can see above, that one of the hanging rings is missing. The steps of the equipment were pretty scuffed up with dark skid marks from play. And there was more trash around than some other parks.

Above is the smaller play structure. There were quite a few swings. And the baby swings were near the big kid swings, which is nice if you’ve got kids of both ages.

Another feature of Huffhines Park is that there are these pretty walking trails and creek with some ducks next to it. Also, this cool bridge leads over to the Huffhines Recreation Center.

What the City Says About Huffhines Park:

54.54 acres at Plano and Apollo. Picnic and playground equipment, pavilion, recreation center, six lighted baseball fields, small backstops, six athletic fields, tennis center with 10 lighted courts, concession complex, two lakes and bike/hike trail. Restroom facilities.
