Movie Night and Drinking Coca-Cola Freestyle #AMCandCocaColaFreestyle

This post could be alternately titled, “Phil and I go to see a movie in the theaters for the first time in forever” or “That time we saw Fury on the absolute last night it was playing.” We don’t get out to see movies in the theaters very often. So it was a great treat to just spend time relaxing last night and watching a movie together–so thank you to AMC Theatres and Coca-Cola Freestyle for sponsoring our date night!

Honestly, this past week has been pretty stressful. Both Phil and I have been under-the-weather. Both Phil and I have had a ton of stuff going on at work with lots of work stress. And to be even more honest, sometimes the holidays add stress with their additional to-dos of decorating, hanging Christmas lights, buying and wrapping presents, and feeling cheery and full of holiday spirit the whole time. So we definitely needed a bit of a break.

Phil had been wanting to see Fury with Brad Pitt ever since he saw the first preview. So I headed to AMC Theatres to find out where it was playing. We had planned to go Friday but it turns out our slow-poke-itude meant the movie was playing for the last time on Thursday evening. So a fun weeknight day it was!

We got treats at the concession stand–mozzarella sticks (healthy dinner for the win!) and Coca-Cola. Maybe I’m just a big kid, but the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines still excited me everytime I’m at a location that has one. (Check here to find an AMC Theatre near you with a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine.)
And apparently when Phil sees one, he looks like an excited country-bumpkin kid in a candy store. That’s my man.
My favorite part about the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines is how custom I can make my drink. I love Vanilla or Cherry Coca-Cola, but it’s always too sweet if I get all flavored. So I love to fill up mostly with Classic Coca-Cola and then just do a squirt of Vanilla flavored to finish it off. Perfection. Phil loves all the unique flavors that aren’t available at your typical soda machine–he decided on lime raspberry ginger ale.

After playing around choosing our Coca-Cola Freestyle drinks, we settled in for the movie. It was definitely not a make-out movie. So for you young-uns maybe choose a chick flick. But us old married folks enjoy a good action movie. And Fury definitely fulfilled that role. But where it really hit the spot was a chance to get out of the house and relax from the day-to-day stresses while worrying about the fate of a WWII tank crew instead. Every time Phil and I go on a date night, it reminds me how awesome it is. So, now amongst the rest of the Christmas shopping and celebrations, I definitely hope Phil and I can make it out to see the new Hobbit movie.
