How would your friends and family describe your style?

I’ve never had the sartorial discipline to commit to one particular style or subculture but since there is no word limit, I’ll go with “classic with a vintage bent and a modern twist”. Frugal but never cheap, there is no shame in my op shop game.

What is an outfit that always makes you feel fabulous?

A fit and flare dress with a vintage bag and classic heels.

Describe your biggest beauty disaster (and do you have photographic evidence)?

There have been more than a few but the sketchy fringe I had for most of the nineties through to the mid naughties takes the cake. Why none of my friends staged an intervention is beyond me. Here I am “rocking” it (complete with shiny nylon fake hair scrunchie) along with one of my most memorable fashion ventures, a pair of pink vinyl snakeskin pants. Which Australian bloggers inspire you and why?

I was first inspired by my friend Bridie, who runs bridiemarie.com and, once I delved into the world of Australian style bloggers, found a whole range of blogs that spoke to me and who I read regularly;

Away from Blue, Style on V, Styling You , Agent Mystery Case, Kitsch Snitch, How Can I Wear That?, Faux Fuchsia, The Fashionable Mum, Mum’s Closet, Carbon Chic, Champagne Cartel, Fox in Flats, What The Teacher Wears, Tried and Tested Blog, Kimba Likes, The Style Within, Make-up Tips Blog, and obvs, Redcliffe Style!

The more keeping of the realness, the better. Don’t get me wrong; perfectly poised, polished and posed has a place in my heart and on my Pinterest boards but in terms of daily style, realistic aspirations are more my thing. I’ve picked up tips on everything from successful blogging to applying eyeliner and have been inspired to try fashion items I had previously written off, like cropped tops and printed pants.

What made you start a blog and is it what you expected?

Bridie did. We were both somewhat under-utilised at work and keeping our brains and tongues sharp by writing Yelp reviews and hilarious comments on Lync, our internal messaging platform. She just kept at me to start a blog so in September 2014, I launched ghetteauxposh.com which changed names to AlmostPosh.com in January of this year. Tip for young players; when choosing a blog name, be super super keen on it before you go buying domain names, setting up emails and other associated social media accounts!

I genuinely expected to largely be writing for myself, Bridie, my mum and anyone else I may have shyly given the address to. The responsiveness of – and interaction with – other bloggers has been amazing; welcoming, friendly and encouraging.

Blog wise, what are your dreams for 2015?

I’d like to improve my images, rock more styles, review more things, expand my reader base and make more blogger connections, especially with fellow bloggists here in Radelaide.

I also need to get over my reticence when asking other people to take photos of me, at least until my daughter is old enough to be trusted with taking a photo with the iPhone, rather than hogging it and playing Bananas in Pyjamas and Where’s Puppy’s Nose?
