Taking Another Leap

Hello again! I have been on an unofficial writing sabbatical, a long sabbatical, and I apologize, especially to the new subscribers who have signed up and who have been waiting for a new post. Thank you for your patience, and for subscribing—I hope you will find this space more beneficial once it gets rolling again. To my existing subscribers—thank you for sticking around!

Though I haven’t written lately, I have new things I’d like to share and have decided to take a big step in overcoming one of my fears and incorporate videos in to my site. Yes, videos. And yes, making them is something that I’ve wanted to do for a while but it terrifies me. As a coach, I encourage my clients to work through their fears. So what better way to nudge me through my own, than telling you my intention?

Back in 2009, I published my first blog post and was really scared. But I did it anyway, and soon it really wasn’t so hard anymore. That’s how life is. We do things that scare us, get used to it, and then need to find something new to scare us. If we’re not doing this, then we’re stagnant.

As of now potential topics include: interviews on Skype with various experts in the creative and recruiting fields, reviews of books that have helped me (and many of my clients) move forward in life, and finally, answer questions from you related to your creative career. I’m open to suggestions too, so if you have a topic idea or a question that you’d like me to answer, please comment below or send me an email. I will do my best to feature your topic or question.

Aside from kicking my fear of making videos to the curb, I am now recruiting along with coaching—a perfect combination for me. The pace of recruiting is very fast, but when paired with coaching, I have a nice balance, plus coaching has allowed me to connect with people all over the world—Hong Kong, Amsterdam, and most recently Berlin—while my recruiting is focused mostly in New York City. It is a nice mix, and I love when I am able to coach someone and then get them a job, too. That doesn’t always happen, but when it does it is that much more rewarding.

In case you are looking for work and not yet familiar with my recruiting process, I get jobs in the digital space in creative and UX (User Experience).

I also collaborate with other recruiters so that we’re able to offer more opportunities to our candidates and more options for our clients looking for talent. And I have been known to work on areas outside of creative, but it just depends on a few things, so get in touch, and we’ll talk through it.

Again, thank you for your patience with the crickets that have settled in lately on my site. I’m back and look forward to interacting more with you in this fun new format. Please bear with me as I figure this video thing out. But hopefully it will serve as inspiration to just make the leap when you’re scared of something. It doesn’t have to be perfect. We can research and practice and compare and worry, but finally, we just have to take another leap!
