If, like me, you sometimes enjoy a rather extensive read of the Mail Online, you might have seen that Louise Redknapp was recently unveiled as the new face of the Dr Organic Snail Gel range. Yep, you heard right, snails and an ex-All Saints star. You might be starting to think the world has gone a little mad, but bear with me!
The range contains Helix Aspersia Muller, a substance that the snails produce in order to rebuild and repair their damaged shells or skin. This is harvested from the snails without causing any harm whatsoever, then filtered and added to the products.
Due to its ability to help soften wrinkles, smooth skin and reduce any scars, the range is best suited to ageing and dry skin. I have dry/combination skin, so thought I'd give the range a whirl and see what the hype is all about.
Dr Organic Snail Gel Eye Serum*

First up in the range is the eye serum, which makes bold claims of making you look 6 years younger in 4 weeks. I mean, I'm not trying to look 17 again but I was very interested in seeing the results of its hydrating and smoothing properties.
The consistency is quite runny, as you expect with a serum, which means it absorbs in no time at all. That being said, it does work well to give the eye area some added moisture without feeling heavy on the skin. It does the job well but I'm not a huge fan of the scent, or lack thereof. Although this is probably great if your moisturiser has quite a strong scent, so you don't run the risk of your face smelling like a perfume counter!

This was the one I was most looking forward to trying yet also the most apprehensive about. When you get past the fact you're smothering snail secretion all over your face, it really is quite an impressive moisturiser.
My first impressions were 'wow, that smells delicious!'. I'm not sure what I expected it to smell like (do snails have a particular smell?!) but it was the complete opposite, with the lemongrass oil lingering on my skin and making it smell fresh. The cream is also enriched with shea butter, cocoa butter and vitamin E, which are all great for dry and older skin. A little rich for my skin in the day, but perfect as a night time moisturiser to perk skin up and leave it feeling smooth and silky.
Dr Organic Snail Gel Moisture Mask*

I used this sachet of Snail Gel Moisture Mask over the weekend in a bid to cure my dehydrated skin from an evening of pre-Christmas excess (think steak, lobster & lots of red wine). You simply smother this all over your face, leave for around 10 minutes, then wipe off with a damp cloth. Afterwards my skin felt soft and much fresher. For £1.99 you can't really go wrong, great for combating a bad skin day!
