Getting Clearer Skin

How I Got Clearer Skin

I was that girl who forgot to take her makeup off after a night out. The girl who thought nothing of skipping cleanser and grabbing the face wipes. I used Sudocrem as crisis spot management and my moisturiser was whatever smelt nice and fell into a 3for2 offer. It's safe to say, I didn't have skincare down. I was rubbish at routines and my skin showed it.
Nowadays I'm a little better. I understand the importance of a healthy diet but also the importance of giving yourself a big kick in the butt and making yourself cleanse, sometimes tone, and moisturise every day. It's really important to find those products that really agree with your skin and establish a consistent skincare routine. Ditch the face wipes, double cleanse, exfoliate regularly, moisturise day & night and drink loads of water!
If you want to know how I've been helping to clear my blemish-prone skin, take a look at a few products that have been helping to keep my skin in check recently...

Pixi Glow Tonic

Liberty London, £18

This is probably one of my all-time favourite skincare purchases, a bold statement but it's true. I saw the Pixi Glow Tonic on Caroline Hiron's blog, read up on all its benefits and was instantly sold. It's a glycolic acid toner, which I use at night after cleansing thoroughly with Super Facialist Vitamin C Cleansing Oil and Super Facialist Rose Hydrate Cleanser. My skin just absolutely loves it!
It contains skin-friendly ingredients such as ginseng, witch hazel and aloe vera. The witch hazel is great for fighting any spots and the aloe vera really soothes your skin. The main difference I've noticed though is the texture of my skin, it's now much much smoother as the glow tonic is an exfoliating toner.
It's an all-round great addition to anyone's skincare routine, pricey but you do get 250ml of product which will last you ages.

Trilogy Rosehip Oil

Look Fantastic, £11.06

If you have oily skin, don't dismiss this one so easily... I promise it's great for everyone! The Trilogy Rosehip Oil has become a staple part of my nightly skincare routine, as it gives my moisturiser an added hydrating kick but also because it's great for helping to heal any spot scarring.
Add 2-3 drops to your moisturiser (AM and PM if you want, but I usually reserve this for night time) and massage well into your skin. It doesn't break me out at all as it's non-greasy and really lightweight, but just make sure to regularly exfoliate your skin as it can make flaky skin look worse!

Super Facialist Vitamin C Skin Defence Moisturiser

Boots, £16.99

This is actually one of those previously mentioned products that I randomly buy on a 3for2 offer because it smells nice. However, I have used a few products from the Super Facialist by Una Brennan skincare range before, so I knew to expect good things.
I've included two moisturisers in this post, as I can't always splurge on £45 products, but the Super Facialist Vitamin C Skin Defence Moisturiser works just as well as its higher-priced alternative. Enriched with Vitamin C extract, Hyaluronic Acid and anti-oxidants, this is a lightweight but hydrating moisturiser that seriously helps to smooth out skin. Perfect if you're after an accompaniment to the Rose Hydrate Cleanser and Vitamin C Cleansing Oil, which are my current favourite cleansing duo from the range.

Eve Lom SPF 15 Moisturiser

Feel Unique, £45

Last but not least is the newest addition to my skincare routine, the Eve Lom SPF15 Moisturiser. At £45 a pot, this is possibly the most extravagant skincare purchase I've made, but definitely one I don't regret.
It's a super hydrating day cream, that glides on to my skin and sinks in really well. I hate it when you get a hydrating moisturiser and all it does it sit on top of your skin, making you feel like a greasy mess. This definitely isn't the case with this, as even though it appears to be quite rich, it's still a very lightweight easily-absorbing formula.
One thing though, it has quite a distinct 'herby' almost peppery scent. It put me off at first but I'm definitely getting used to it. This is pure luxury and well worth a purchase if you're on a payday splurge. Warning: it will definitely make you want to purchase more Eve Lom... £££!
