MAC RiRi Hearts MAC Summer Collection Lipsticks: Review, Swatches, Photos

On June 18th at noon EST, I and many others logged onto MAC’s website to grab up most of or all of Rihanna’s products from the RiRi Hearts MAC summer collection sold exclusively online only. We filled our carts with wanted goodies and watched flashing pictures of Rihanna for hours just trying to submit our orders. We couldn’t refresh our screens or order more than one of each product. It was at that moment that I realized that the collector in me has grown tired of having to chase after products. As I’ve said time and time before I’ve been rocking MAC Cosmetics since I was 13. I’m no stranger to chaos due to majorly important product releases, or celebrity mash-ups, but now I’ve become tired and disappointed in the brand.

Any-who, I can bore you with MAC Cosmetics politics later. On with the review.

MAC RiRi Boy Lipstick is a vivid lavender with a retro matte finish. It is a medium deep purple-pink color. This color is not unique, if you currently have “Up The Amp” the only difference is the finish. “Up the Amp is an amplified creme which has a slight sheen making it hint different. This color has great color payoff and out of the three offered had the smoothest application.

MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick is described as a cool red with a retro matte finish. It’s a medium-dark red with heavy cool undertones making it a hint easier for some to pull off. If you own Ruby Woo this color is not a mandatory must have. There is a slight difference in color, RiRi Woo is richer in pigmentation but on my NC50 skin tone it’s so faint that you would really have to be a color specialist to really identify the major differences.

MAC Heaux Lipstick is a berry red with a retro matte finish. This is what I thought RiRi Woo was going to be, a spin-off of Ruby Woo with more darkened berry red coloring mixed in. This color will look and work great on all skin tones.

These three lipsticks retail for $15.00 for 0.10 oz each. The retro matte formula is very drying to the lips and requires prior exfoliation to prevent the product from flaking and settling into chapped fine lines. These on my lips did tug a bit while applying but, the color payoff was so opaque and even that, that minor flaw was forgotten. Like most mattes all three of these lipsticks wore for well over 5 hours. Out of the three lipsticks offered Heaux is by far my favorite. Because even though all three are dupable with other products in the MAC Cosmetics line–up, Heaux is the only color missing from my collection of reds.

This summer Rihanna collection is currently sold out. So if you were not able to get your hands on any of these products. I advise, to shopyour stash for dupes or to check out ebay, amazon, blog sales and more.
