Depigmentation Treatment

DEPIGMENTATION AND HYPERPIGMENTATION TREATMENT INFORMATION

DLK Depigmentation Treatment eliminates unwanted skin blemishes and treats conditions such as Melasma, Hyper-pigmentation, while improving signs of photo-aging and photo-damage, regulating sebaceous glands and reducing pore size.

The DLK Depigmentation Treatment addresses pigmentation issues or skin discolorations caused by many factors including sun exposure, photo-damage, aging, hormonal fluctuations (pregnancy or menopause) and trauma to the skin caused by acne. This treatment works by blocking the formations of melanin (pigment) inhibiting the production of tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for the formation of pigment in the skin.

TREATMENT BENEFITS:

  • Effective treatment for all skin types;
  • Rejuvenates skin and increases luminosity of complexion;
  • Skin-specific treatment customized to the needs of each patient
  • Regulates sebaceous secretion especially in combination-oily skin;

THE TECHNOLOGY:
The treatment works deep inside the dermal layers of the skin blocking melanin production in the melanocytes. It lightens visible discoloration and inhibits the cycle which causes pigment to surface later.

THE TREATMENT:
The treatment consists of two phases, the first will be applied at the clinic, and the second maintenance program will be applied at home. At the time of consultation, a customized treatment plan will be created based on individual skin care concerns, skin type and needs.

Phase 1 – In-clinic treatment application:
A mask is applied in the clinic and left on the skin for 8 to 12 hours.

Phase 2 – At home maintenance:
Treatment maintenance cream is applied at home according to the guidelines given by your clinician and is followed daily with maintenance cream and sun block of SPF 30 or greater. The objective of this highly effective maintenance cream is to ensure continued improvement.

PRE-TREATMENT:
If you have a history of cold sores please let us know and a prescription can be given to decrease the risk of an outbreak. The skin should not be tanned at the time of treatment. This treatment cannot be combined with other treatments such as chemical peels, IPL or lightening products, unless otherwise instructed by Dr. Kellett.

POST-TREATMENT:
When the mask is removed the skin may feel tight and appear slightly swollen. During the first week after treatment the skin will turn red. In some cases redness may persist for longer periods depending on your natural skin color and sensitivity to treatment. Flaking and peeling will occur between the second and third day. You may also experience an itching feeling and some burning on the face. To relieve discomfort, Fast repair cream is applied twice a day.

POST-TREATMENT APPLICATION SKIN-CARE:
Maintenance Cream should be applied 3 times a day for the first 3 weeks. Follow up visits are at 3, 6, 12, and 16 weeks and application instructions will be indicated by Dr. Kellett.

THE RESULTS:
Treatment is effective in up to 95% of all treatments; pigment will continue to improve over time with the use of treatment maintenance cream.
