Cream Eyeshadow Collection

Cream eyeshadow is one of those products that I go through stages in. Sometimes I’m really feeling it and wear it frequently, and other times I’ll forget about it altogether and stick with a sheer eyelid primer pressed eyeshadow.

Leather, Birthday Suit, Cement, Barely Branded, No Pressure!, Painterly, Creamy Beige

A lot of the cream shadows I have are similar to the colors of pressed shadow I like to wear. I typically stick to matte shades in pressed eyeshadow, but like the finish of some shimmery shades of cream shadow!

My favorite way to apply cream shadow is with my finger. It’s so fast and easy. In fact, the thing I dislike the most about the Bobbi Brown cream eyeshadow is that the opening is so narrow it almost forces you to use a brush. The rest of the cream shadows I have are plenty wide enough for a finger or a brush.

I often use Mac’s Painterly as a base for eyeshadow even though it’s ever so slightly too warm for my taste. As a base, it works great. I thought Bobbi Brown’s Cement shade would be the perfect neutral cream eyeshadow that didn’t look too nude but it wears pretty light. It would be a good dupe for Mac’s Painterly if you were in the market for a nice, neutral base that won’t add much color to your lid. After trying Cement, and finding it to be so close to Painterly, I decided to return it.

My favorite of the bunch is Benefit’s No Pressure! I love the depth of color, and it actually wears a little bit lighter than you would think. I think the shimmer in the formula helps it from looking too dark. It’s great worn alone, or you could add a pop of a lighter shadow near the inner corners of your eyelids if you want a bit of dimension.

I’m curious, do you prefer cream or powder/pressed eyeshadow? My guess is most women wear powder/pressed simply because there is such a larger range of options out there.
