The Fishtail Twist Updo Tutorial

Did you watch the Golden Globes on Sunday the 11th? I didn’t, but I love seeing the best, and worst, looks of the night. Naturally, I love seeing what is happening with the hair, but also the dresses. Some of the choices leave me wondering how on earth ____ (fill in the blank celebrity) left their room wearing that and feeling good.
In general, I felt like the hair was soft, simple, and flattering. There wasn’t too much that was overdone or too severe, so I was quite surprised to see a lot of really soft, wearable styles!

It’s been a little while since I filmed a hair tutorial, but I was inspired by the award show, and the many that are to come, to pull together a little 3 step updo. I mention in the video that you can swap out the fishtail braid for a regular braid, but in case you want to learn how to fishtail, click here. Do not be intimidated by the final photos of this updo. It’s broken into three separate parts and I’m confident that even a newbie could recreate this look. The key, and this is very important, is to start with a decent amount of texture in your hair. It’s impossible to add texture after you are done, but you’ll have a much easier time building the style if you start with the right hair!

I worked with a few new products on this tutorial as well! Big Sexy Hair Full Bloom needs to be used on wet hair, then blow dry to activate the formula.
