Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation Review

This is likely one of the most popular natural foundations out there in terms of green beauty and with good reason. This cream foundation is, to put it lightly, freaking AWESOME! It comes in a gorgeous silver signature KW initialed high end metal compact which is a lot heavier than I imagined it to be, in a good way! This feels like it’s more luxurious than designer beauty and, in my opinion, it totally is. Read on to hear about my experiences with this foundation ♥

About Kjaer Weis

If you’re unfamiliar with Kjaer Weis, this green beauty brand was founded by veteran makeup artist, Kirsten Kjaer Weis, as a way to create more natural, skin-friendly, and body-safe formulated color cosmetics that have the same level of luxury and performance as designer brands without the harmful ingredients. After years of research and development, they’ve come up with a gorgeous and comprehensive line of makeup products that range from the cream foundation to cream blush, highlighter, mascara, eye shadows, and more. All of their ingredients are certified natural or certified organic as well as cruelty-free, gluten-free, and a select number of their eye shadows are also vegan as well. Their philosophy is that instead of deciding on whether you can have a product that works or a product in pretty packaging, you can have all the above without slacking in any one area.

About the KW Cream Foundation

I selected to get the KW Cream Foundation in the shade Like Porcelain as I’m quite fair and it fit my skin very well. This foundation is very creamy, but not oily at all. I can definitely see how it would work for all skin types as it’s very satin-finish to semi-matte finish, depending on how you moisturize your skin. If my skin is feeling oily and I hydrate lightly, this foundation sets to a more matte finish. If I use a thick cream and face oil before applying this foundation, the effect is more dewy. The more moisturizer you use, the more easily this foundation is to blend. I would recommend hydrating well or using a primer just because, if you don’t, it can be really difficult to blend out. I like the formula, though I admit I was wary that it includes coconut oil because I know a lot of acne prone skin can types say it can break you out. My thoughts are that as long as I double cleanse properly so my skin is totally makeup-free before bed, that’s not an issue. This foundation utilizes sweet almond seed, coconut and jojoba oils in the formula which all are known for their moisturizing properties and ability to heal, soften, and improve skin elasticity so that’s a really nice benefit to using this one. I received their foundation brush with the cream foundation which they recommend as best to apply this foundation with. Personally, I think my flat buffing brush works leaps and bounds better than theirs as the KW one is surprisingly (and annoyingly) small. It works best for concealer purposes, in my opinion.

What I Love

I like using this foundation for days when I want fuller coverage and it makes a really brilliant concealer. After trying it, I’m kind of shocked when reading reviews which say it offers light coverage. I would say that the coverage itself “feels” light, but the pigmentation of this foundation is very good, medium, in my opinion. You could easily layer it up to full coverage, if you wanted to. I love the luxurious feel of this packaging; it’s such a gorgeous compact that I find myself obsessively cleaning it so no fingerprints or makeup are left on it and it looks shiny and pretty in my makeup tray at all times LOL. Aside from the beauty of the packaging, this foundation is awesome and works really well. It is very pricey to purchase, initially, but I personally think it’s worth the investment if you prefer a more medium coverage foundation and you want something that compares to designer brands, but is more naturally formulated. This one definitely fits the bill for that. Also, once you purchase it, you can repurchase the refills of this foundation at a much cheaper price point than the initial $68.

All that said, I think the price is totally worth it because you are getting a product that feels a lot like buying Dior or Chanel (albeit a lot more modern, in my opinion), but without the questionable ingredients and instead includes a formula that’s more eco-friendly, skin and body safe, and includes ingredients which will actually help to fight aging rather than speed up the aging process (which can happen with a lot of conventional makeup brands). My only complaint with this product is the limited amount of shades which I think presents a bit of a problem for darker skin tones and should be addressed by Kjaer Weis ASAP. It’s true that this is certainly an investment kind of purchase, but if you wear makeup a lot and tend to fall asleep in it or spend half your check on designer makeup anyway, this is one investment that will actually give back to you in the form of younger looking skin, a more eco-conscious product you don’t have to feel guilty about, and a product that works just as well, if not better, than mainstream designer brands.
