Our Second LEGOLAND Kids Marathon Mile and Three Expo Highlights

Happy Saturday!

Oh my goodness were we all ready for a weekend.

I got a little assistance getting ready in the early morning yesterday and then ran six treadmill miles followed by 37 medicine ball burpees.

I made a video, but I need to try it again since I just wasn’t at my finest at 5:00 am. It was ugly friends.

My drive home from work however leading into the weekend was not.

Right?

Before I forget, the randomly chosen winner of the Osmo giveaway is:

Congrats Jaime! Email me your mailing information and we’ll get that sent to you.

Also, we’re giving away an entry to the Mermaid San Diego Half Marathon (or the 10K or 5K). You can enter here if you haven’t yet.

We’ve had a pretty fun family day.

Well, not all of us actually. I’m not sure what went on last night while we were all sleeping, but these guys had a bit of a rough morning.

For the rest of us the fun started at the LEGOLAND Kids Marathon Mile.

We ran the same race last year and dragged Grandma along. Today we brought Daddy.

I forgot how long you wait in the corrals if you are in one of the younger age brackets. They organize it really well, but we had quite a lot of time to stand around and get pumped up before we headed to the starting line.

It was a nice easy mile through LEGOLAND.

We had our issues of course. Today it was itchy legs.

But, unlike Mommy, these guys knew how to pick it up towards the finish line.

I’m pretty sure we got a family PR.

I’m also pretty sure that our days of normal pictures are indeed over.

Lovely.

On a bit of a serious note though, I love that these guys get so excited for these small kids races. I love being active as a family and spending time together doing something that is so fun and good for us. I can’t wait until they can fit into Mizuno shoes. He he.

Highlights after the race were the goodies and obviously the fire trucks.

We took advantage of the gorgeous day to get a couple minutes of beach time before hitting up the race expo.

Oh and along with a free pass to LEGOLAND for the kids, the runners got some pretty cool medals.

Somehow I managed to talk everyone into going to the Carlsbad Marathon race expo with me.

We made three important stops. The first one was at the HALO booth.

They now have the sweat band sewn into the visors. I haven’t tried one of the new ones out yet, so I’ll give it a go tomorrow.

They also have these super cute stars and stripes Halo hairbands that aren’t on the website yet.

How cute are they though?

And how cute is the awesome Fernanda? She is the best.

Our next stop was the Pro Compression booth for a little meet up.

I noticed these awesome new PC runner socks on the table.

They aren’t on the website yet either and have just been released so keep your eyes out.

Oh and if you need any Pro Compression goodies (socks, sleeves, leggings, etc.) you can still use code SM14 for 40% off and FREE shipping for orders over $25. It’s not an affiliate link or anything, but I like to spread the discount love.

I got to spread the Pro love at the expo with some fine ladies I met.

I swear runners are just so nice and it always seems like you’re instantly friends.

The boys helped me give away a couple pairs of the amazing socks to these wonderful ladies, Debbie and Teri.

They’re running the half tomorrow and are going to rock it.

The last stop was a very necessary one requested by Joaquin.

Ha ha.

The Panera stop on the way home was demanded by pretty much everyone in the car.

Mmm hmm…

I went with the cobb salad for some reason instead of my usual favorite Thai chicken salad. The family was rushing me to order and I just blurted it out. Ha. I really wish they’d still serve it with the multi-grain baguette though. The new roll is just not the same.

Okay, I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend so far. I’m off to wrap my head around the fact that I have an “organized run” tomorrow to get a few things ready for.

Yes, I’m calling it an “organized run” because I’m just not ready mentally or physically to call anything I’m doing a race yet.

Have a good one!

Do you do races together as a family?

What about expos? Do you go solo or drag the family along?

What’s your favorite Panera salad? I actually noticed they have some new things on the menu I’m going to have to check out.
