Why I Love Walking Lunges, the Best Life Project and What You Don’t Know About Knights

The only reason I can pull off a double workout day on Monday is because it’s really the only time I’m at the gym by myself and have the option to stay a little longer after class. You know the deal, STUFT Daddy gets happy hours, I get long runs and a little extra time at the gym.

After my classes I did a few weighted walking lunges though. Gosh I freaking love them.

Walking lunges rock because they’re one of the best moves ever you can do for your backside, with or without weights they are great resistance training, they engage more muscle groups so burn more calories, are a functional movement and they also work the core while trying to stabilize your body. Yep.

Obviously I have my students do them too. I’m sure the feeling about the lunges is mutual. Ha.

I ended hitting up just a couple of machines to target the major muscle groups.

I was in and out of there in around 15-20 minutes.Oh and they don’t make these Mizuno shoes anymore, but they’re more of a minimalist shoe (Wave Evo Levitas) so I gave them a go for my classes and for the weight room.

I totally forgot to show you how my last Quest Bar went down last week.

Right? It was my last one so I had to make it a little celebration. I microwaved a s’mores Quest Bar and then topped it with a little SunButter and smashed it between two brown rice rice cakes. It was delicious.

I may be out of bars, but I’m not out of inspiration. I love this that was posted on IG.

Isn’t that the truth?

Since I was all out of Quest Bars, I turned to my other favorite today.

Chilled Vega Sport protein bars are the bomb.

I love all the flavors, but this one was chocolate peanut butter.

Speaking of Vega, they have this awesome #bestlifeproject going on. They have fun weekly challenges and if you tag your Instagram pictures with #bestlifeproject you could win prizes. I’m not it in for the prizes, but I love the thought behind it to show your best self. There are new challenges every week and this week’s challenges rock. My favorites are to create a vision board, a random act of caffeine (buy someone behind you a cup of coffee) and to try a new recipe. I actually just tried a quickly one tonight for an easy, healthy dinner and will share tomorrow. I really love the whole project though.

One quick little bit of information the boys wanted me to share that you might not know is that knights can’t have kids.

Say what?

I was confused too, but let me just replay our morning conversation.

Me, “Do you guys want to play instruments when you get older?”

Joaquin, “No. I want to be a knight.”

Judah, “Then you can’t have kids.”

Joaquin, “Yes I can.”

Judah, “No you can’t. You have to be out all night and sleep on your horse and won’t be able to take care of a family.”

Interesting logic, huh? I love how little minds work.

Okay.

I’m off to bed.

Here’s a fun little quote though that I found in my old school business organizer.

Sweet dreams.
