DIY Heart Elbow Tee

How charming is this heart elbow tee?! We spotted this darling DIY over at The Effortless Chic, and we can’t believe how insanely easy it is to do — no sew or iron-on patch needed! It’s the perfect project to bring a little cheer to our wardrobe. Simply grab a t-shirt and a bit of fabric paint and your well on your way to elbow whimsy.

Jen Pinkston of The Effortless Chic used what she had lying around, a heart cookie cutter that works as a stand-in stencil and some fabric paint, to create these hearts, with a little help from her adorable nine-month-old assistant!

t-shirt
tape (to hold the stencil in place)

I created my own stencil with a heart-shaped cookie cutter and thick paper/cardboard so that’s where you’ll want to begin. If you already have your stencil, then begin by putting on the top and marking with a piece of tape where you want your heart to go.

After removing the shirt, secure your stencil in the marked area with tape. Be sure that the stencil is laying flush with the top so the paint doesn’t seep out through the edges. I recommend painting a few very thin coats of paint as opposed to gobs of paint. It’s less likely and less likely to bleed.

Repeat with the second side and allow both to dry. Then… voilà!
