No Sew Linen-Like Napkins

Today I'm excited to share the DIY for the easiest napkins that are so versatile you'll find yourself reaching for them all the time. My mother-in-law made 150 of these babies for our wedding! Can you believe that? They turned out so perfect and were such a special touch. Now I use them all the time! These napkins are made with Osnaburg fabric - which I first read about from Julie Blanner's post on Better Homes & Gardens here. It's so inexpensive and they have it at virtually every fabric store and even Walmart - you can also order it online. Read on for the simple steps!

Image by Krista A. Jones 1. Decide on the size of your napkin. The easiest way is to lay out one you already have and measure it. For our wedding we made these napkins on the smaller size (since we were making 150 you know...) Be sure to allow yourself 2 extra inches per side to account for shrinking & fraying.
2. Use fabric scisccors to cut your fabric. I purchased a rotary cutting set (like this one) that made cutting straight lines a breeze and also allowed me to cut multiple pieces of fabric at once. If you go this route be sure to pin the fabric together to keep it lined up.
3. Throw your fabric pieces in the wash on the delicate cycle. (Note** you will not want to wash more than 10 napkins at a time as they get tangled easily. If you're making a large quantity just throw them in with laundry). Then dry.
4. Trim the excess threads and fray the edges by pulling down on the strings. They will already be frayed when you take them out of the dryer but you'll want to fix them up a bit.
5. Iron and you're ready to use!
