Bodies and Bikinis: Swimwear 365

I’m sure you are all expecting Fall / Winter posts from me, but right now all I can think about is how much I miss the sun. No layering or wrapping up here – I pretty much only took swimwear with me to The Canary Islands last month as my one holiday wish was to lie on the beach and by the pool. That wish was granted, and actually, Blog Reader, this is quite possibly the most tanned my English skin has been for a while!

I stayed in Gran Canaria, along the south of the island. The resort could be really windy at times, but on this occasion when I managed to drag my husband to the beach at sunset for these photos in my Lascana bikini from Swimwear 365 the weather was still and the whole island was barely waking up.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading for work about body image and body confidence: the extent to which these things are inherited and learned by our attachment relationships vs affected by our experiences. I know many women who won’t wear a bikini, ever, and whilst I’m all for choice when it comes to dressing for one’s shape and knowing one’s style, it seems such a shame that so many women feel the need to cover up. I wrote a little something for a New Zealand style magazine on body image and the media and I hope to share that with you soon.
