New York Diary: Andrea Bergart

Yesterday I spent the afternoon with the artist Andrea Bergart at her studio in Ridgewood. Andrea and I initially met way back in September, at a gallery on the Lower East Side. I photographed her with my iPhone, fully intending to put one of the images on my Instagram feed, but somehow shanked. This is something that seems to happen when you take thousands–yes, literally–of photographs with your iPhone, but you have no system in place to keep them organized.

Anyway.

Then, in December, Andrea and I ran into each other again at the Keltie Ferris opening at Mitchell-Innes & Nash. I suggested that we hang out sometime. So we did.

We drank tea and basked in the glow of the late afternoon light filling her kitchen. We shot some photographs–next to the window, on the roof (so cold, but beautiful), and we had a wonderful chat about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness (or something like that). Oh, and we compared notes about where we’d live if money were no object.

More to come. In the meantime, however, a question: If money were no object, and you could live anywhere you wanted, where would it be? Feel free to list multiple residences. This is a fantasy after all.
