Aya Takano

I wanted to post about one of my favorite artists, Aya Takano. I first saw her work around 2007 in Zipper magazine when she did the monthly calendar artwork for them. I scanned in 3 of those from my own magazines to share at the time. They were full of emotion and storytelling for something that’s usually written off as simple magazine filler.

Then in 2010 she had the infamous collaboration with Shu Uemura for their holiday collection and since then she’s been pretty well known.

I wanted to post this in case you haven’t had a chance to see a more wide spectrum of her work. On the surface her style may be written off as cute eyecandy but a quick google search will reveal she focuses on a wide variety of topics.

If you are interested in reading more you can view some of her interviews here.

Many of the above images found here. There is also a 20 minute documentary (in English) titled “Towards Eternity” on the page.
