Our Wedding Invitations with FREE TEMPLATES!

Most of our wedding was DIY, including our invitations. Grant and I decided early on that we wanted to use 45s for our invitations. If we had a limitless budget we probably would have recorded a couple of songs and gotten those pressed. Alas, this was not the case so instead we bought a box of random singles from a local flea market.

In Photoshop, I made a template for the label on the records themselves. We simply measured the existing labels and I made a template from that. I mixed a few fonts that I like and added some dingbat font as well. To keep with the theme, I used kraft brown paper for the stickers and the insert. There was only one insert but for display purposes I photographed two so that you can see both sides at once. I measured the existing record sleeves and made the inserts slightly smaller.

I also made a template in Photoshop for the sleeve itself. It is one large piece of paper and we actually ended up buying a printer large enough to print 11x17 in order to print the entire sleeve on one piece of paper. The front of the sleeve has the our basic wedding info while the reverse side has an area to write addresses.

Grant spent several hours gluing the labels onto the singles as well as gluing the sleeves themselves together. For the labels we used kraft card stock, for the sleeves we used 11x17 80lb weight paper.

We didn't save the best examples of the labels. Once Grant got some practice with the circle cutter I took out the centre circle on the template so that it was easier to avoid showing the dotted line. Our 45s had 1.5" holes but this isn't always the case. The smaller holes are 1/4" in diameter.

Grant and I were super proud of our invitations. I personally love that we made them ourselves even if it took a lot more time than ordering them online. I am not a Photoshop expert by any stretch of the imagination. I'm mostly self taught. I've attached the templates I made below. For the insert, make two files so that you can print on both sides of the paper. They should be 7" by 7". Photoshop does offer free trials so if you don't feel like dropping a couple hundred bones you can always give that a whirl. You will also need a pair of scissors, a paper trimmer, a circle cutter, a large ruler, an X-ACTO knife, and a glue stick.
